Current Characters: The Knight

Character: Hat Kid
Canon: A Hat in Time, Post Game

Background Information: Wiki
The Even Shorter TL;DR:
- Kid passing by planet in spaceship
- Time altering rocket fuel accidentally falls on said planet
- Kid has to get rocket fuel back
- ???
Step Three: Shenanigans
I like how simple 3D platformer plots are

Personality:
Hat Kid is pretty much what I imagine would happen if The Doctor was a 5 year old (I am... horribly canonblind to DW though so I have no idea how accurate that comparison is, I also feel like that's probably how that canon is normally). Still acts 100% like a child would, but also strangely accustomed to time traveling and spacefaring weirdness. Even her very existence is mysterious. But if she is concerned about any of that stuff she hides it well, doing kid things is way more fun.

General Stuff:
- Most (if not all) of her personality is easy to find just around her spaceship. There's blueprints in her bedroom that confirm that she built it, and most likely she's the only one that knows how it works besides Bow Kid (secondary, optional Player Two). But it does not look anything like a normal spaceship, instead it's made mostly out of wood, tubes, and bright colors on the inside. In fact the first time she's ever seen the a classic metal flying saucer she was absolutely offended that's what others think spaceships look like.
- A master of comfy and coze. She owns a ton of pillows and a fair bit of plushies, including a swimming pool of pillows in her bedroom (that leads to an extra secret pillow fort room with a diary).
- Seems to be particularly fond of dogs, especially corgis, since she has a corgi themed game playing on her video game console and a corgi themed text adventure on her computer. There's also a dog magazine of some kind tucked away in the aforementioned pillow fort room.
- Isn't against other cute animals though.
- Some mundane "Earth" objects are completely foreign to her but she also finds them fascinating/more valuable than they actually are. For example crayons apparently she's convinced is for criminal purposes since she's compelled to draw on things with them.
- Hat Kid does just like to collect things, especially whatever looks shiny. This is a collect-a-thon after all.
- Her taste in food is horribly cursed though, whether its due to alien diet or kid diet. We're not sure to question meatball wine or some of the weird shit living in that fridge.
- She does like cookies and other sugary/snack foods too.
- Also likes to dress up or wear costumes. There is a couple of unique outfits tied to specific levels but most of them are rewards. Or mods And of course all the dozen varieties of hats and headwear, but the top hat is always her favorite.

Story Related:
- It's not very clear if the reason Hat Kid disagreed with Mustache Girl is because she just wanted to go home, or manipulating time in that way tends to be very disastrous, or some combination of the two. Hat Kid does operate a fair bit on selfishness so it's possible that she looked at the whole thing as "This ain't my problem", but it's also safe to assume she knows a whole lot more than she lets on, and probably could have guessed something like the Final Act would've happened if she didn't get all the Time Pieces back. (Granted, I don't think she quite predicted them getting stolen a second time)
- Easy to get sidetracked too. Like she literally spent a whole chapter just getting invested in starring for movies rather than getting her Time Pieces back. Then again, she got most of them back that way anyway.
- Although once she discovers she's being double crossed or cheated, things get...bad. By default she is very friendly and outgoing (all the chaos aside), though if somebody is deliberately being a jerk or trying to ruin her day, it's a declaration of war. And she doesn't give up easily.
- This is especially true with Snatcher which at this point, there's almost like a "love to hate" rivalry going on. It all started with taking Hat Kid's soul and forcing her to do tasks, while trying to get her killed a couple times and then trying to kill her himself. This all fails, she even outsmarts him by changing a contract so that he has to be her BFF. This is pretty much what starts Death Wishes where Snatcher is still constantly trying to murder Hat Kid in one way or another, or just annoy her, while she just keeps annoying him back.
- It's pretty rare for Hat Kid to be afraid of anyone or anything. There's only two characters she's been truly terrified of: Queen Vanessa and the Empress (Snatcher she was scared of very briefly too, but I guess it was before she figured out he was a big dumb ham). But it takes a lot.
- "Peck" is a swear word for birds (seems to be the equivalent to Fuck). She's most definitely learned and used it before, and on live tv. No regret :3

???:
- There is absolutely nothing that is known about Hat Kid in the current release. Such as where she came from, what she was doing in space before the return trip home, what is her home life and what the rest of her planet is like. Is everyone from her world space travelers/time travelers? We may never know!
- AHIT has gone through a lot of scrapped and revised content though, including different story premises before it settled on just being a platformer. Such as Hat Kid being involved with an actual time organization and having an older appearance to swap to (OoT-style I'd imagine).
- A few devs at worked on AHIT at one time or another have also come up with their own interpretations of the story (or of them is even tucked in a secret place in Hat Kid's ship), loosely based on cut ideas. These aren't actually canon but I guess count as unofficially supported AUs now.
- Basically Hat Kid could be holding on to a lot, a lot a lot of secretive shit she's never told anyone about. If I pull anything from any of these sources or beyond though I'd be waist deep in headcanon territory though and not sure how much of it is allowed.

Abilities & Inventory: Hats!, Badges! (The only hat coming with her is the normal top hat, all the others are saved for fun regains or to be recreated again. Some if not most badges I'm just going to convert to normal abilities or tools though just because they're a little too simplistic.)
- Her murder tool of choice though is her trusty umbrella which she bops enemies with like a sword. It can also shoot lasers but it takes a lot of effort. Also, it works as a grappling hook now too.
- We all know her true weapon is sass and smugness though.
- Basically just imagine all the jumping, platforming, wall climbing, ledge grabbing, etc that Mario can do because, Hat Kid pretty much moves and controls about the same exact way. It also makes her very agile and dexterous and hard to catch, not super strong however.
- Hat Kid is pretty much an inventor, even if none of the things she makes make any logical sense to anyone else. All the different hats she swaps to too are her own creations too, made with scraps of yarn found everywhere. Whatever gives them their powers and make them magical though, is just..???
- Owns a ridable scooter and "ridable" roomba.
- Peace and Tranquility - Breaks the very fabric of reality ...with chill vibes and dancing. Likely would be super effective against Noctaere as it is made out of positive energy and meant push out negative emotions, anger, and whatever else comes out from doing impossibly difficult levels over and over. And it's a idgaf button since it's how easy mode is activated in Death Wish, and the dance itself has pretty much become Hat Kid's go to taunt at others, existence, everything. Generally people who know barely anything about AHIT at least know this as a meme since the internet took it and just ran with it.
- There might be something weird about her soul anyway since no matter what, she is unable to actually die, much to Snatcher's disappointment (although, it does mean he can torment her longer with challenges). It could just be a meta self awareness joke though, since there is no lives system and instead every Death Wish just has an own counter for number of attempts.
- She does still have a bunch of Time Pieces too, which can do weird time stuff and open Time Rifts (though I have no idea what that would look like for Reverein, since Time Rifts are basically like dreamscapes). Should they go to the wrong people it might cause some problems. But luckily something like that would never happen right, right??

Hat Kid would likely be immensely powerful with dreamotion being that she is already rather emotional and imaginative, and would use it for a wide variety of beneficial or trolling purposes depending on whatever situation. As for what type of dreamotion she would specialize in I can't exactly say yet, though I do like the idea of her dabbling in a little bit of everything (And sounds pretty on brand for something she'd do). I also like the thought of P&T being converted to a dreamotion thing that nullifies Noctaere whether it's only protecting her, some kind of midrange bubble, or somewhat "curing" nightmarescapes as a whole.

Suitability & Plans:
While she does want to get home already, this is a detour that doesn't really take her that much further from what she was already doing. At the moment she absolutely loves Reverein and doesn't want to leave any time soon, which puts her in a good mood and makes her easy to cooperate with. She shouldn't have any problems getting along with other characters, but may or may not push the buttons of any character that gives her enough ammunition (Within player discretion of course).

I don't have much in long or short term plans at the moment, other than just to play around with events and mess with some CR. Although she is capable of coming up with her own mayhem if neither of those things are available. I do want to at some point flesh out Hat Kid's backstory if for no other reason than I have something to use if a character prods enough. Something to make her more interesting to play off of other than simply being ~a mystery~. And uh, whatever else that might be fun.
